College Street

College Street in Kolkata, fondly called Boi Para or the Book Neighbourhood, is Asia’s largest open-air book market and a vibrant centre of learning where knowledge circulates freely among piles of textbooks, rare editions, and second-hand books. For generations, it has nurtured students from iconic institutions such as Presidency University, the University of Calcutta, and Calcutta Medical College, all located along this historic stretch that traces its intellectual roots back to 1817 with David Hare’s founding of Hindu College.
